Although Britzigel lives at the bottom of the sea, it is not a water-type Pokémon. In search of algae, it crawls across the bottom and scrapes off stones with sharp teeth. It defends itself against attackers by producing electric current in its sharp spikes, which it discharges in powerful electrical attacks.
