Pokemon Legends: Z-A Art Reveals Interesting Mega Scizor Detail

Fans have noticed that Pokemon Legends: Z-A's official box art features a flying Mega Scizor, even though previous Pokemon installments state it's unable to do so. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be heavily focused on Mega Evolutions, and has already confirmed a Nintendo Switch release date for October 16.

Since its introduction in Pokemon X and Y, Mega Scizor has remained a fan-favorite out of all Gen 2 Mega Evolutions. While its predecessor, Scyther, is a Bug/Flying-type, Mega Scizor is a Bug/Steel-type. Its inability to fly is further addressed in Scizor's Pokedex entries in Gen 2, 3, and 4 games, which describe that Scizor doesn't flap its wings for flying, but for adjusting its body temperature. For this reason, it has become general knowledge that Mega Scizor cannot fly. However, fans have pointed out how a recent piece of official Pokemon art might contradict this.

Redditor Proxer pointed out how the official box cover art of Pokemon Legends: Z-A shows Mega Scizor up in the air in what seems to be an aerial battle against Noivern. "So Mega Scizor can fly?" wondered the fan. Proxer argued that the Scyther evolution line is known for being able to use its wings just to dash. This detail about Mega Scizor in the Legends: Z-A art sparked a debate in the comments about whether the Bug/Steel Pokemon could have new abilities now or not. Under the post, some users commented that Scizor has been shown to hover around in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. In other media, like Pokken Tournament or the Pokemon animated series, Scizor can also jump quite high instead of flying. However, other fans have stated that, if Mega Scizor could indeed fly in Legends: Z-A, it would be a befitting skill for the winged pocket monster.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Box Cover Art Suggests Mega Scizor Can Fly

Pokemon Legends: Z-A's combat mechanics will differ greatly from previous entries. Pokemon will be able to move freely around the battlefield, and range will play an important part in landing an attack. It will be interesting to see how flying Pokemon will perform in these scenarios. Aside from Mega Scizor, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is bringing back several Mega Evolutions like Lucario, Absol, and Charizard's. There are also rumors that the game might add new Mega forms for several Pokemon. This includes the game's starters, which means Mega Meganium, Mega Feraligatr, and Mega Emboar could become a reality.

While Pokemon Legends: Z-A is still months away, a new Pokemon Presents event is scheduled for July 22. The presentation will likely reveal more details about the game, including gameplay mechanics, characters, and Lumiose City's central hub.
