Pokemon GO Will Let Players Pick August Community Day Pokemon

Pokemon GO has confirmed the return of Community Day voting for its August 2025 edition, with four popular Pokemon as candidates. Pokemon GO released its Delightful Days season recently, but the game has already unveiled some events for the upcoming months.

With the release of its summer-themed Delightful Days season, a new cycle of exciting events has begun in Pokemon GO. In a recent trailer, the game teased some long-awaited Pokemon debuts, including Hisuian Lilligant and Yamper. The video also featured some fan-favorite creatures like Quaxly and Eevee, and fans suspected they could be upcoming Community Day protagonists. Indeed, Pokemon GO has confirmed an Eevee Community Day Classic for July 5, but the developers made another surprise announcement for a major August event as well.

The augmented reality mobile game Pokemon GO announces a brand-new community feature, but trainers are divided on the addition.

Pokemon GO is going to let players decide which Pokemon will be featured in its August 2025 Community Day. Players will be able to vote between Frillish, Wimpod, Rookidee, and Lechonk through a poll posted on the game's official YouTube channel. The poll will begin on June 7 at 6:00 PM PDT and run for only 24 hours. The developers also revealed the Featured Charged Attacks that each candidate would learn after evolving, should they win the poll. For example, evolving Frillish would result in a Jellicent that knows Poltergeist, while evolving Lechonk would get players an Oinkologne that knows Disarming Voice. The winning Pokemon will be announced shortly after the poll ends, but further details on event bonuses will be shared at a later date. Pokemon GO has revealed its Community Day schedule for the current season, with the August edition to be held on the 30th.

Out of the four Pokemon candidates, Frillish has been available in the game the longest, as it debuted in 2021. Lechonk debuted in 2023 as well, and evolving it doesn't cost as much Candy as other Pokemon. Wimpod, on the other hand, is one of the most expensive monsters to evolve in Pokemon GO, needing 400 Candy to become Golisopod. Finally, Rookidee was released in January 2025, making it the most recent candidate. Rookidee is also the only nominee that currently doesn't have a shiny form in Pokemon GO, though winning the poll might not guarantee a shiny debut.

It is worth noting that the August Community Day poll only allows one vote per player. Pokemon GO has encouraged players to campaign for their favorite Pokemon within the fandom until the poll goes live. Fans can also look forward to Jangmo-o's first Community Day, which is happening on June 21.
